Instagram story mention auto reply: thank people who tag you
When someone mentions your account in their Instagram story, Comment Kro sends them the DM you wrote, within seconds. A thank-you, a code or a link, sent only to the person who tagged you.
Story mention replies, explained
A story mention is a customer posting your product, a student sharing your class, or a fan tagging you in a repost. Thanking each person by hand is easy on a quiet day and hard after a launch. The "Story mention" trigger sends an auto DM when someone mentions you in their story, so your thank-you arrives while their story is still up.
There are no keywords to set, because a mention has no text to match. Every story mention of the connected account starts the automation, and everyone gets the same message. You write it once, up to 2,000 characters, and {{sender_name}} fills in their username.
It reacts to mentions only. Reactions to your stories, poll votes and question sticker answers don't start it. Your account needs to be public and set to Business or Creator, and it connects through Instagram's own login.
How it works
Set it up in a few minutes
Every step below uses the same labels you see in the Comment Kro builder.

Choose "Story mention"
Start a new automation and choose the account in Basics. On the Trigger step, select "Story mention", and the keyword settings disappear, since every mention counts.

Write the thank-you DM
Story mentions can only be answered with a DM. Thank the person with {{sender_name}}, and add a code or link only if you promised one.

Set the delay
Leave the slider at 0 for the quickest reply, or move it up to 60 seconds so the DM lands a little after they post.

Launch and leave it running
Tap "Launch automation" at the end of the Review step. It then shows as Active, with Triggered, Sent and Failed counts, until you pause it.

Instagram's rules, in plain words
Comment Kro runs on the official Instagram API, so these limits apply to every automation.
- Instagram delivers a story mention to you as a message, so your answer has to be a DM rather than a comment.
- Because the mention comes from that person, you can reply to it within 24 hours. People who never mentioned or messaged you can't be contacted this way.
- After your first reply, any further message needs them to answer first, and must be sent inside the 24-hour window their answer opens.
- Mention events only come through for public accounts, so keep your professional account public.

Does it run when someone reacts to my story?
No. Only a mention of your account in their own story starts it. Reactions to your stories, poll votes and question sticker answers don't start it.
Can I add keywords to a story mention automation?
